New Users

I just joined Shara, what do I do next?

  1. Go to the "More" tab and fill out your business and personal details.

  2. Add your payment details.

  3. Create a memorable PIN, needed to complete your transactions.

  4. Go back to the "More" tab to edit your details in the future.

Are there any fees when I join Shara?

    1. Shara is free of charge and has no transaction fees.

How do I record a sale?

  1. Open the Shara app

  2. Click the " + " button on the homepage.

  3. Select " Record Sale "

  4. Indicate the amount to be collected.

  5. Click done and a receipt will be created for you to share with your client.

  6. Go to the " Clients " tab to see payments by each client.

  7. All payment history and activity can be seen on the homepage.

I have submitted my documents for KYC, how do I know If I have been approved?

    1. Approval takes 3 business days.

    2. You will receive a confirmation message from Shara if you have been approved for a facility.

I received a message that I have been approved, what next?

    1. Your limit details are included in the confirmation message.

    2. You can also view your limit details on Shara.

    3. Click the "$ Money tab"

    4. Then click on "BNPL" to view the amount available and the amount drawn.

How do I record an outstanding amount?

  1. Open the Shara app.

  2. Click on the " + " button on the homepage.

  3. Select "Record Sale" in the menu box.

  4. Enter the collected amount and the outstanding amount.

  5. Click done and a receipt will be created with the outstanding amount for you to share with your client.

  6. Your payment history can be viewed on the homepage.

How do I access my wallet?

  1. Open the Shara app.

  2. Click on the "$ Money" tab.

  3. Your wallet balance should appear.

  4. You can use your Shara wallet to deposit and withdraw funds to and from your external account.

How do I share payment options with my clients?

Share free payment links with your clients via Whatsapp or SMS.

  1. Open the Shara app.

  2. Click on the " + " button on the homepage.

  3. Select "Request Payment" in the menu box.

  4. Select the client from your phonebook

  5. Enter the cash amount

  6. Select push payment

  7. Share your payment link via Whatsapp or SMS.

How do I find and share my invite code?

  1. Open the Shara app

  2. Click on the "More" tab

  3. Click on "Invite code" and share via WhatsApp or SMS

  1. KYC is a way for Shara to verify your identity and suitability before offering you any financial services.

  2. Shara asks that you submit documents such as Business address, National ID number, Mpesa statement, etc for review.

Payments

How do I make repayments?

  1. Go to the "Clients" tab

  2. Click on the customer who has a late payment

  3. Click "+ Add Repayment"

  4. Enter the amount and confirm the payment.

  5. A receipt with the repayment amount will be created for you to share with your client.

How do I request payments using the Shara link?

  1. Open the Shara app

  2. Click on the " + " button on the homepage.

  3. Select "Request Payment" in the menu box.

  4. Select a client from your contact list or add their phone number.

  5. Enter the amount.

  6. Click push payment and a payment link will be sent to your customer.

  7. Confirm the payment has been made.

🇰🇪 How does a client pay me using USSD *728# ?

  1. Receive free payments when your client dials:

    1. * 728 * your Merchant ID * payment amount #

eg: * 728 * 712345678 * 500 #

  1. Your Merchant ID is your phone number without the zero.

  2. You can also find your Merchant ID on the Shara homepage.

  3. If your client is not receiving a payment prompt ask them to update their SIM card.

What are the different payment options on Shara?

You can request payments using one of the following 4 methods:


      1. Request Payment

        1. Open the Shara app

        2. Click on the " + " button on the homepage.

        3. Select "Request Payment" in the menu box.

        4. Select a client from your contact list or add their phone number.

        5. Enter the amount.

        6. Select push payment and a payment link will be sent to your customer for them to complete the transaction.

        7. Confirm the payment has been made.


      1. USSD code

        1. * 728 * your Merchant ID * payment amount #

        2. Your Merchant ID is your phone number without the zero.


      1. Using Paybill

        1. Open the Safaricom Sim Tool Kit (STK)

        2. Select lipa-na-mpesa

        3. Select Paybill

        4. Enter the business number and Shara’s Paybill number: 4044017

        5. The account number is the merchant’s id without the zero. Eg... 721333111

        6. Enter the amount and click confirm

        7. Enter M-PESA pin to complete the transaction


      1. Push Payment

        1. Click the " + " button on the homepage.

        2. Select "Request Payment" in the menu box

        3. Tap the request payment tab

        4. Select the customer and enter the amount you want to request

        5. Click " done " and share the payment link through Whatsapp/ SMS/ push payment.

          1. When sending a push payment, the amount will be requested from your customer via an STK push.

          2. The customer needs to enter their M-PESA pin to complete the transaction

Why do I get an error when I want to request payment?

  1. Check that your profile details are correct.

  2. Make sure your business details and personal details are correct.

  3. Ensure your payment details are correct.

  4. Contact our customer support team if you are still receiving error messages.

Why is the cash I deposited not reflecting in my wallet immediately?

    1. Please check your network connection and if you have sufficient data bundles.

    2. Close and re-open the app.

Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Limits

I have been approved but I can't access my BNPL?

    1. Please check your network connection and if you have sufficient data bundles.

    2. Update the app.

    3. Log out then log back in.

How do I increase my BNPL limit?

  1. Grow your limit by receiving client payments directly on Shara.

Can my BNPL limit go down?

  1. Late BNPL payments can affect your limit size.

  2. Ensure all your client repayments are made on time.

How do I know which BNPL payment is due?

  1. Open the Shara app.

  2. Click the "Money" tab.

  3. Click on the client's name and the BNPL payments related to the client will be displayed in red.

Why is my BNPL limit smaller than others?

    1. Shara looks at the strength of the documents you submit. (eg. business records, bank statements, revenue per month).

    2. Each business has a different monthly revenue and we determine the Buy Now Pay Later limit size based on each business's monthly revenue. No two businesses are the same.

    3. You can grow your limit by receiving client payments directly on Shara.

Cashback

When do I get my 1% cashback?

    1. Cashback will be reflected in your cahsback wallet at the end of the month, for the previous month.

    2. Earn cashback when you collect your payments through your Shara Wallet.

    3. The more you transact the more cashback you stand to earn.

Invites and Referrals

How many people can I invite to use Shara?

    1. There is no limit to the number of people you can invite, as long as you are up to date with your weekly payments and you have no overdues.

How do I become a Shara Gold Merchant?

  1. You must be invited by an existing Shara Gold Merchant or one of Shara's brand ambassadors.

  2. You must be a Shara financial user for a period of time.

  3. You must apply for an in-depth KYC review of your business.
