BRING A FRIEND during Share The Love Month
Day-Of Details
Competitions can quickly become unpredictable with time.
Students should arrive 2 hours before their first competition time
They need to arrive in their first costume, full-face makeup, and hair ready
Students are to cover up costumes throughout the competition when not performing
Dressing Rooms:
Dressing room spaces are required to be kept tidy and maneuverable. This is a direct reflection on our studio. Keep your space clean.
There can be NO photos or videos taken in the dressing rooms.
TOP and SDA will not be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Award Presentation:
Dancers are required to attend any awards ceremony that includes their routines
Black leggings with Press Play Company tanks with tennis shoes or bare feet (SDA Jackets or Wind Jackets may be worn as well)
No jeans, gum, food, or cell phones are allowed on stage during the awards
Dancers should be engaged and aware of the announcer during the awards
Team captains are given out by each routine teacher. The team captain receives their award from the announcer. If an overall or special award is given for a routine, the team captain will stand up to receive this award at the front of the stage. They are expected to stand in the fifth position, facing outward, and smiling
Team captains are NOT to pass out pins on stage. All awards and pins need to be brought to the studio during rehearsals. Teachers will pass out pins.
We expect our dancers to always maintain a grateful attitude during competition and for the duration of awards ceremonies. This includes clapping/cheering for everyone on their team and the other teams on the stage. Any negative remarks, disappointed faces, or fit-throwing of any sort will NOT be tolerated.
Team Conduct Expectations:
Our dancers and their families are role models of our SDA culture.
Our expectations as a team include good sportsmanship with other studios, competition faculty, and all team members.
Family members are prohibited from entering the backstage area.
Dancers are prohibited from checking themselves in with the backstage crew.
Your competition supervisor or choreographer will ALWAYS check the routine in with the backstage crew.
Before Leaving Home:
Check costumes to ensure that nothing is missing
Don't forget tights, shoes, and award attire
Review your accessory list
Check that all hair and makeup products are accounted for
Review your schedule thoroughly
Make sure that all shoes and tights are of good quality. No holes or stains
Pack healthy snacks and water! Competition days can turn into very long hours. To prevent yourself from having to leave and causing a possible time crunch, pack snacks, hydration, and a blanket for a nap!
