Since March 2020, schools around the country have adapted to using online learning such as Google Classroom to aid teaching and learning if pupils cannot access their lessons.
At Outwood Academy Shafton, and across Outwood Grange Academies Trust, we have been using G Suite and more specifically Google Classroom to achieve this goal.
We are now in the position where schools have reopened, but understand some pupils, for a range of reasons, will not be in their classrooms as normal. This is where Google Classroom is being used, an online system where lesson content, activities and homework can be uploaded for pupils not accessing their lessons in person. This system also allows teachers to interact with pupils in a professional manner, as pupils can ask questions about their work and receive comments on completed tasks.
In early 2020, OGAT became an EdTech Demonstrator Trust, meaning staff across our academies have received specialist and bespoke training in EdTech (Educational Technology) to ensure work set for pupils is of the highest quality, ensuring students receive the best possible content while they are not in the academy.
