Ivrit V'Tefilah (Hebrew and Prayer): Morah Sonia

Sonia Levin has been working at Shaarei Tikvah for the last 7 years. During the day she works in Carmel Academy in Greenwich, CT as a Hebrew language and Reading specialist. In addition to teaching, she also facilitates professional educational training. She received an MA in Education from Tel Aviv University and a second MA in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Her research was focused on teaching Hebrew decoding skills to children with dyslexia and other learning /reading disabilities. Sonia was born in Russia and emigrated to Israel with her parents after high school. She currently lives in Yonkers, NY with her 12 years old daughter.

Chaggim (Holidays): Morah Livia

A native Israeli, from Zichron Ya’akov, Livia Bronstein has 18 years of teaching experience in Israel. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Hakibutzim College in Tel Aviv. In 2003, she moved with her family to the United States to join the Carmel Academy community in Greenwich, CT as a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher. Teaching in Jewish schools in the U.S. has helped her fulfill her dream of integrating a passion for teaching the Israeli culture and the Hebrew language abroad.

Sipurai HaTanakh (Stories from the Tanakh): Morah Sarah

Sarah Zollman has been a middle school Judaic studies teacher at Carmel Academy for ten years and is excited to join the Shaarei Tikvah family. She has a BA in Jewish Studies from the University of Florida and is a graduate of the Pardes Educators Program, where she earned a certificate of Advanced Jewish studies alongside a Masters in Jewish Education from the Shoolman Graduate School of Jewish Education at Hebrew College. When not at school, she's either planning large Shabbat and holiday meals in her NYC apartment, or dreaming up her next road trip across the USA. If you want any tips about US state capitol buildings (she's been to 49!) or corny roadside attractions across the country, just ask!

Yisrael V'Historia (Israel and History): Morah Talia

Talia has always had a passion for teaching children. She has worked as a camp counselor at Ramah Nyack for the past six summers and plans on one day pursuing a career in Education. Talia is also an experienced actress and singer and enjoys performing and entertaining. Talia lives in Rye Brook and is a member of Beth El New Rochelle.
