SFUSD TK-12 Teacher Salary Calculator

(2021-2022 school year only)

Welcome to the SFUSD Salary page! The salary estimator below will help prospective and newly hired teachers get a estimate on their starting base salary. This estimate does not include stipends (descriptions below) or previous teaching experience at SFUSD and is applicable to TK-12 teachers only. If you are a SFUSD rehire, TSA or non TK-12 teacher (department heads, nurses, etc), please contact salary@sfusd.edu for placement.

SFUSD has two salary schedules (linked here), one for fully credentialed teachers and one for non-credentialed teachers. For all newly hired teachers, SFUSD will honor a maximum of:

        • 12 years of full-time outside experience for fully credentialed teachers on the BA column of the salary schedule

        • 11 years of full-time outside experience for fully credentialed teachers on the BA + 30 post-graduate units column of the salary schedule

        • 10 years of full-time outside experience for fully credentialed teachers on the BA + 60 post-graduate units column of the salary schedule

        • 5 years of full-time outside experience for teachers with intern credentials on the non-credentialed salary schedule

Definitions:

  • Fully credentialed: Individuals with valid CA or out-of-state teaching credentials

  • Non-credentialed: Individuals serving emergency credentials or intern credentials

  • Emergency credentialed: A newly hired Emergency Credentialed teacher is limited to salary step 1.

  • Years of Full-time Experience: A year of Full-Time Experience is defined as serving 75% or more of the contractual work days in a single complete school year. Time worked that is less than 75% in a complete school year is not counted.

  • BA + Units: In addition to years of experience, salary placement is based on semester units beyond a Bachelor's degree. All quarter units are converted to semester units for placement (1.5 quarter units is equal to 1 semester unit).

  • FTE: Full-time equivalent. Salary is also determined by full or part time positions. Individuals working part-time will receive a prorated salary that reflects the number of hours / days worked. For example, if an individual works 0.5 FTE, or 50%, they receive 50% of a full-time salary.

DISCLAIMER: THIS GUIDE IS INTENDED TO HELP YOU ESTIMATE YOUR SALARY PLACEMENT. FINAL DETERMINATION WILL BE MADE BY SFUSD SALARY OFFICE BASED ON RECEIPT OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S) AND VERIFIED WORK EXPERIENCE AND MAY BE DIFFERENT THAN THE ESTIMATE PROVIDED BELOW.
