Educator OPPORTUNITIES

Teaching can sometimes feel isolating, but it doesn't need to be. Check out some of the opportunities in The Bay and online to connect with like-minded Educators. If you know of any other educator opportunities that should be added, please let me know at garciat@sfusd.edu

T4SJ is a grassroots non-profit teacher support and development organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for self-transformation, leadership, and community building to educators in order to affect meaningful change in the classroom, school, community and society

Teacher programs at SFMOMA are designed to introduce educators to the museum’s collection and special exhibitions, offer techniques and resources for integrating works of art into classroom curricula, and provide a forum for dialogue and exchange

A free professional development training series for Bay Area-based educators, librarians, organizers, after-school coordinators, and others who work directly with teens and are interested in having fun, building community, trading resources, experiencing Youth Speaks pedagogy as a participant, and getting the curricular support you need to lift up the voices of your students all year round

HISTORY-SOCIAL SCIENCE STANDARDS & FRAMEWORKS

SB 48, amends the California Education Code to include the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful reference to contributions by people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ community in history and social studies curriculum

An educational framework based on research in the learning sciences, including cognitive neuroscience, that guides the development of flexible learning environments and learning spaces that can accommodate individual learning differences

A road map for anti-bias education, comprised of anchor standards and age-appropriate learning outcomes. Standards provide a common language and organizational structure for educators.

A guide for teachers of the eras and civilizations to study and require students not only to acquire knowledge in history but also to develop critical thinking skills to study the past and its relationship to the present

A framework that emphasizes the acquisition and application of knowledge to prepare students for college, career, and civic life

The framework supports a curriculum that emphasizes: content, inquiry, literacy, and citizenship and represents an effort to strengthen education in the history-social science curriculum
