I was born and raised in Western Kansas,  and I spent many years in Oklahoma before moving to the S.F. Bay Area; I have been here for fifteen years. 

After first attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, I went on to get a B.A. in English from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas.  After that, I earned a M.S. in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership (Administration) from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. 

In addition to teaching twenty two years in public schools, I also served the community as a youth group educator and lgbt youth group facilitator at Youth Services of Tulsa, a youth trainer for Leadership Tulsa, a volunteer coordinator/suicide hotline trainer for Contra Costa Crisis Center, and a volunteer coordinator/trainer for Hospice by the Bay.  

In my free time, you can find me reading mysteries, doing crossword puzzles, strolling through the U.C. Berkeley Botanical Gardens, taking photos, listening to jazz, or just people watching at a coffee shop.
