about mr. brinton

Mr. Brinton was born and raised in San Francisco and has been teaching at George Washington since 2005. He wears many hats at Washington from teaching English, coaching the Girls Varsity Soccer team, and sponsoring any club that needs assistance. He attended the University of Denver, majoring in English and minoring in Womens Studies and earned his teaching credential at the University of San Francisco. When he's not teaching or coaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, taking pictures, traveling, hiking and camping, fishing, and pretty much anything else that gets him outdoors. He's a big fan of the Giants, Warriors, and Colin Kaepernick and can't wait watch the newly founded WNBA franchise, The Golden State Valkyries.

“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.”

Maya Angelou

I firmly believe that reading a good book or story that we can relate is not only empowering, but essential in our development as people on this planet. There is truly a book for everyone and it is my hope to help each student find the one calling to them.

Lately, I have been reading more young adult fiction that has been recommended by current and former students or that has won an award or made a list, though I read wide and far so ask me anything. If you ever would like a suggestion, please do not hesitate to let me know!

Below are a few of the more recent titles I have read:

I have read a few more that are not pictured, but these were some of my recent favorites. If you want to talk about books or borrow any from me, don't be afraid to ask! I will do whatever I can to get books into your hands!
