During the 2022-2023 school year, my Spanish 1 students and I will be working during class by utilizing choice/personalization. Daily classwork can be found on the tab titled "Daily Agenda."
Students will start class by taking attendance and learning about a cultural aspect of a Spanish speaking country. Students will check their learning targets for the day and we will begin class as a whole group. During many class periods, students will also have the opportunity to choose how they want to learn. Common ways in which students choose to learn might include: working in small groups with the teacher, independently researching, teaching other students, practicing online (with immediate feedback), studying flashcards, completing practice worksheets/packets, playing learning related games, completing listening activities, drawing, completing puzzles, singing, etc. If the student can prove to me that it will help them learn, it can happen in my class. Ideally, this independence gives my students the opportunity to learn in a way that best suits their needs and helps learners to begin to think about how they learn best, which is a vital skill to have before departing for college. Additionally, it can help students to engage by utilizing other areas of interest cross-curricularly.
