Title and Author: Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

NOTE: Do not read this review if you have not read up to Empire of Storms (Book 5) . This review is for the 6th book in a series.

Plot Overview: Tower of Dawn is entirely about the journey of Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq. They have traveled to the southern continent in order for Chaol to be healed by the world's best healers in Torre Cesme. However, the threat of the Valg is present even in the southern continent. Along with the healer Yrene, Chaol and Nesryn uncover the insidious secrets of the land.

Critique: The most compelling part of the book was how it portrayed disability and mental health. Chaol struggles with how Aelin cast him off and his inability to walk. I especially liked how Maas wrapped up his healing.

SPOILER: I really really liked how Chaol was not able to be fully healed at the end but still came to terms with his disability.

Also, Maas's writing improved a lot from the last book. I was very nervous for some parts of the book and got into it a lot. It did not feel too long like her other books. The ending was pretty good, but nothing fantastic.

Cover Critique: I like the mysteriousness of the cover, but it does not match the other covers. However, I do understand that it would be really difficult to have the same theme of an intense looking protagonist on the cover going on since Chaol is not in a position of power in the beginning of the book.

Star Rating: 3.75/5. Worth reading, but if you've given up on the series, you aren't missing anything spectacular.
