Title and Author: Paper Princess (The Royals #1) by Erin Watt

Plot Overview: Paper princess is a book set in modern times. The protagonist, Ella Harper is a resilient girl who has had to face a lot of responsibility at a young age. After she is called into the principal's office, Ella realizes this they somehow found out that her mom is dead and that she has been living alone. Her supposed father's best friend, Mr. Royal, wants to take her in and give her a home. Ella hasn't ever met her father though. How is she supposed to know if he's telling the truth?

Critique: The most compelling character in this book is Reed Royal. Him and his gang of brothers aren't too happy about taking in their father's ward, Ella Harper. It's interesting to see the way Ella's and the boys' relationships develop. I really liked this book. No aspect of it was disappointing for me.

Cover Critique: The cover is very nice, if a bit misleading. It has a gold crown on the cover. I had originally thought that the book would be about a real princess.

Star Rating: I would rate this book as a 5/5.

Additional Comments: There are additional books in this series as well. They are also very good.

Comment from Britney Le (Class of '19): Definitely would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and like intense teenage angst drama.
