Title and Author: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

Summary: At a mental asylum, Nurse Ratched controls her patients with an extremely strict set of rules, with the threat of electric shock therapy if they don't comply. She has remained unchallenged for years until a rebellious Randle McMurphy shows up and decides to defy her rules to prove a point to the other inmates. The story describes the struggle for power between McMurphy and Nurse Ratched through the eyes of an inmate, Chief Bromden.

Most Compelling Aspect: The most compelling aspect of the book is the narration from the point of view of a mentally ill person. The aspect of an unreliable narrator allowed Kesey to add in many metaphors through Bromden's hallucinations which are really interesting and well though-out.

One Disappointing Aspect: I was not disappointed with the book at all. I found the storyline really gripping and loved the several plot twists.

Cover Critique: While the cover doesn't reflect the contents, I think this was a good call. If any characters were to be shown, it would take away from Chief Bromden's extremely distorted view of them in the book due to his mental illness.

Rating: I would give this book a 4. I'm taking a point off just because Kesey continually suggests that submission of a woman to a man has to take place in order for that man to be masculine and the woman to be feminine.
