Reviews for "Night Mare Affair" by Mindee Arnett

Title and Author of the Book: Night Mare Affair by Mindee Arnett

Plot Overview: The story is narrated by Dusty Eberhart, a sixteen year old Nightmare. As a nightmare she has the ability to go into people's dreams. But when people at Arkwell Academy, a school for wizards and the mystical start getting murdered, Dusty jumps into people's prophetic dreams to try to solve the crime.

Critique: I think it was compelling because of the mystery and suspense in trying to solve the crimes. I liked Dusty's skill but at the same time it felt less practical than the other powers. I was disappointed in the fact they they did not solve the crime until after they were captured by the criminals when it was too late to stop them.

Star Rating: 3.5/5

Basic yet enjoyable teen drama but interesting because of the fantasy world it is set in.

From Ms. Yang: Interesting! If you like stories featuring dreams, you might also try Dream a Little Dream by Kristen Gier. It's a trilogy. Here's the back cover blurb: "Mysterious doors with lizard-head knobs. Talking stone statues. A crazy girl with a hatchet. Yes, Liv's dreams have been pretty weird lately. Especially the one where she's in a graveyard at night, watching four boys conduct dark magic rituals. The strangest part is that Liv recognizes the boys in her dream. They're classmates from her new school in London, the school where she's starting over because her mom has moved them to a new country."
