Reviews for "An Enchantment of Ravens" by Margaret Rogerson

Title and Author: An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Plot Overview: The story follows the main character, Isobel, who is an amazing portrait artist and good enough to be commissioned by the fair folk. But her clients are very dangerous beings who covet human works of art because they cannot create anything themselves without turning to dust. Isobel makes a mistake in her portrait of the faire prince, Rook, and she is taken from her home in order to stand trial for her crime. While in the kingdom, she and Rook depend on each other as Isobel discovers and faces the threats to the faeries.

Critique: Honestly, I know this isn't exactly part of the storyline or the writing in general, but I think the cover is the most compelling aspect of the book. It's beautiful! The cover was the reason this book caught my eye and I picked it up. I think this book made it to the semi-finals for best cover on the EpicReads 2017 book ratings (similar to Goodreads choice awards). Other than that, the characters are very well developed which is one of my main criteria for a good book. I really enjoyed following Isobel's story from her point of view (it is narrated in first person) and discover events in the storyline as she does. I loved the characters so much that the only disappointing part of this book is that its a standalone. But very well written as one!

Cover Critique: Again, I love the cover! I like having an image of the main character in my head while I read the book.
