Check out this lovely video from Sofia B in year 4 who shares her gratitude for the staff at St Francis de Sales - thank you Sofia, what a kind and thoughtful gesture!
Kia ora koutou,
As the year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. It has been a year filled with learning, growth, and plenty of wonderful moments shared between tamariki, whānau, and staff.
We are incredibly proud of the progress our students have made, the grit and determinations they have shown, and the friendships they have built. Your support for them through everyday encouragement has been invaluable in helping us create a positive and nurturing environment for all.
To those families who are leaving our school community, we wish you the very best for the next chapter in your journey. Please know that you will always be part of our extended school whānau.
For those returning next year, we look forward to another fantastic year together, full of opportunities to learn, explore, and grow.
End of Year Liturgy: Thursday 19 December
Each year we come together as a community to celebrate the year and farewell those who are moving on. The children have all be practising hard to prepare performance for you to enjoy. Please invite you whānau and friends along. This is the last event for the year!
5.00pm - All students are to arrive at school (they may want to have something to eat at home beforehand).
Year 1-3 students are to meet their teachers in their classes. Their teachers will bring them into the church before the start.
Year 4-8 students are to go straight to the church and meet their teachers.
All adults are asked to wait outside the church, which will be locked until we are ready.
5.30pm - our Kaikaranga will call all parents and whānau into the church. Reserved seating will be marked for students and parents of Year 8. There is plenty of other seating for everyone.
Approx 6.30 - 6.40pm finish. Students will be gathered by their teachers outside afterwards. Please check in with their teacher to collect them safely from this area. Thank you for your cooperation.
Final Day: Friday 20 December
School will finish at 12.30pm on Friday. Please make sure to collect your child(ren) at that time. We hope to have a short farewell assembly in the courtyard from 12.15pm, which you are welcome to join us for. Please note this this is weather-dependent, so will be cancelled if it is raining.
Family Fish and Chip Night
We had a great turn out, last Friday evening for our family fish and chip night. The weather was just perfect and everyone enjoyed the company of all of the families who attended. A real highlight was being able to welcome so many young babies to our SFdS whānau, and have lots of cuddles. Thank you to Harley and the team for organising the evening. Let's do it again at the beginning of 2025!
Advent Prayer
Fourth Week: Love (Isaiah 7:10-16; Romans 1:1-7; Matthew 1:18-25)
God of love, you sent your Son, Jesus, to shine bright like the sun, lighting the way for all who walk in darkness. May the light of Christ’s hope, peace, joy and love shine bright in us as we approach his coming, that we may be ready to welcome him on Christmas day and every day. Amen.
Hero Graphs
Please note that at the end of December the progress graphs will no longer be available for you to view. They will remain this way until the end of Term 2, 2025.
During the first two terms of 2025, the Hero goals will not be visible to you either. We need to make many changes to these with the introduction of new national expectations for Reading, Writing and Maths. It will take all of this time to adapt our systems to meet these new expectations.
Thank you for your patience.
Term 1 2025 Sport
We will be offering the following sports in term 1:
Year 1 - 8 Fustal (indoor football)
Year 1 - 8 Touch Rugby
Year 1 - 4 Junior Netball
All sports will be for boys and girls. The registration for futsal and junior netball will be free thanks to funding from Up Foundation.
Please keep an eye out on Kindo from Tuesday 28 January to register your child/ren.
Message from Kindo
If your family is leaving our school and has been using ezlunch or Kindo, please make sure to stop any regular automatic payments that have been set up before the school year finishes. You may also need to transfer or close your account which can be done as follows: Not sure if your new school is using Kindo? If you’re not sure if your new school is using Kindo, you can either ask them directly or go to “My Details” in your Kindo account and click on the list of schools to see if your new school is listed.
New school IS using Kindo. If your new school is using Kindo, simply click on the new school from the list in “My Details” of your Kindo account and you’ll be attached to the new school’s menu. Any balance on your Kindo account will remain available to spend with the new school.
New school is NOT using Kindo, or you no longer need Kindo. If you need to close your Kindo account, use the “Close Kind Account” button within the “My Details” section of your Kindo account. You can either withdraw your account balance or choose to donate your balance to the school. Please note that all withdrawals will be made via electronic payment to your New Zealand bank account. Kindo is unable to process cash withdrawals.
