Artist’s Reflection
I knew that my life would never be the same because of the beauty of the Seton Hill campus and how everything, from the welcoming to its rich history, wanted to make me stay and know more. Every part of this campus has a story, from the trees on the drive up the hill to the beautiful swings that allow you to sit out and enjoy nature. Everything has a story, and all of these stories are beautiful to me. Every building name and dedicated plaque is another person whose life was changed by this school, just like mine. During my first week on campus, I was going around with my sketchbook, spending hours making sure that every detail was carefully preserved in a way that gave justice to the scenes I was encapsulating. While sitting and working, I pondered what events in life led me to be there, sitting on a bench, spending my time tapping my pen against my paper, and why I was so lucky to be able to do the very thing that I loved. It is because Seton Hill pushed me to follow my dreams and interests, another beautiful thing, just like the art department, which furthers my creativity. Without the graphic design program and the wonderful technology offered to the students, I wouldn’t have been given the ability to sit down and focus on my art, nor would I have been inspired to create this work and merge my love for drawing and photography. Art has always been a passion of mine, and it is my means of capturing moments in time that I may otherwise forget. I want to remember everything about my time on the Hill and how my life will never be the same because of the beauty that is Seton Hill.
