Artist’s Reflection
The image was taken without any thought when I toured my friend around the campus. We decided to cut through the chapel to get to my dorm room, for the architecture is beautiful and
my dorm was only a hallway away from the chapel. Once we stepped in, we noticed the faint smell of incense and looked around before continuing. My friend, who had never seen the chapel before, quickly snapped the photo as we dwelt, admiring the large pillars and statues littering the room. In its entirety, the image conveys the importance of being grateful for the fleeting moments and understanding that they are indeed passing. While solemn to think about at first, it makes the moments that much more valuable: In a small segment of time, I felt such gratitude and awe in the beauty of the chapel, being blessed with a good friend, and having the opportunity to be where I stood. The moment put into perspective how thankful I am for the everyday moments I experience, the people that shape that future with me, and those who have helped and supported me along the way, for I would have been a very different person if it were not for them.
