Artist's Reflection
Seton Hill has many symbols or themes easily defined by many students, or past students, here. The historic buildings, community, beautiful stained glass windows in the chapel, but what always comes to my mind is the trees. Thick trunks with twisted branches that reach towards the sky guiding us up and down the twists and turns of the hill itself. One theme, one distinguishing factor, representing Seton Hill will always be the journey up the hill itself. It is a beautiful journey no matter the time of year. Bright green leaves, to various colors complimenting the brick buildings, or snow on the top of each branch waiting to thaw for spring and start all over again. One thing that has made my experience so defining at Seton Hill is the opportunities to create fulfilling friendships. I took this photograph on my Canon AE Program while driving down “the hill”, as us students always call it, heading into town to enjoy each others company. I was sitting in the backseat listening to music, and enjoying the ride. I feel that this photo links to the history of Seton Hill, to the many pictures of our trees growing continuously throughout the years. It was the Sisters of Charity planting our trees to make the short trip up the hill so defining to all. Years of friendships and strong bonds created at this university are vital. So like many times, and many more to come, my friends and I took a trip down the hill and I realized I needed to capture that moment and hold it close to my heart.
