January 2025
As we wrap up the first semester, I want to express my gratitude for a wonderful start to the school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students and families here at WES, and I am truly proud to be part of such a tight-knit and supportive community. This past month, we’ve had a great time with our “December to Remember” spirit days and searching for Mo, our school elf. The excitement around the holidays and winter break is contagious, and the students are looking forward to some well-deserved time off. Please enjoy the holiday season with your family and loved ones. Take time to relax and recharge during our break from December 23 to January 3. We will kick off the second semester on January 6, and I look forward to another great chapter in the school year. Students will receive their report cards in their Friday Folders on January 10 when we return from break. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a restful break!
~Mrs. Garrison

We are thrilled to announce that our new gym is officially open! The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a huge success, and we had a wonderful turnout. A big thank you to Dr. Hitchcock, the SES School Board, the construction crew, and all the community members whose hard work and dedication made this new facility a reality.
As we begin to enjoy this fantastic new space, we want to ensure it stays in great condition for years to come. Please remember that students are required to wear proper tennis shoes on days they have PE for specials. This helps us keep the students safe and the gym in top shape for all activities.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to many exciting moments in our new gym!
Our Christmas program was a huge success, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved! A special thank you to Miss Rico for organizing this memorable event. We also want to express our gratitude to all the teachers, students, and families for their hard work and support in making this such a wonderful night.
It was a joy to see all the students in their festive attire, singing Christmas songs, and spreading holiday cheer. The energy and excitement were truly infectious, and it was a perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
Thank you again for making this event so special, and we look forward to more celebrations in the future!
With winter weather here, it is a good time to review Shelby Eastern School's policy for school closures due to inclement weather. All students, parents, and teachers will be notified of school closure before 6:00 a.m. on the day of the closure. IF we opt for eLearning on a closure day, please follow the guidelines outlined here.
Here are the district eLearning guidelines.
Assignments: All staff will post assignments by 10:00 a.m. of the eLearning day.
Communication: Teachers will communicate with students through email and/or Rooms to establish a 2-hour office window for that day.
Due Dates: Posted assignments will have an extended due date window of three days, starting from the day they are assigned. Adjustments can be made for consecutive or extended eLearning days.
Attendance: Assignment completion will continue to be the basis for attendance on eLearning days.
