There are several modalities and methods for treating mental illness, and more continue to be researched and discovered every day. For our providers to remain compliant (and an employee of Sensible Care), treatment strategies must remain limited to those that are within the scope of your licensure and other modality certifications.
Therapists are prohibited from recommending alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, (including THC and CBD), hallucinogens/psychedelics (such as LSD, mushrooms, ecstasy), inhalants, anesthetics, other illicit drugs, or non-prescribed medications (such as sedatives/hypnotics, stimulants, opioids obtained illegally) to any client of Sensible Care.
Only licensed physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are authorized to recommend or prescribe medications to clients of Sensible Care. Therapists should recommend compliance with a medication treatment only if that medication is prescribed by a licensed prescriber.
We continue to follow the research on emerging therapeutics and will provide updated guidance on these, as appropriate, in the future.Â
