March

The second Academic Checkpoint is upon us, so you should have one or two major assignments/tests in each class at this point to be able to evaluate your progress and make adjustments to your study habits if necessary.

  • Use the Academic Checkpoint document to help you gather information regarding each of your courses.
  • It's not too late to sign up for tutoring in the Center for Student Excellence if necessary, or attend drop-in tutoring on Fridays at the CSE and Sunday nights at the Sims Library
  • Contact your instructors about ways to improve your studying for their exams. Don't remember how to reach them? Check Moodle or the People Search tool on the Southeastern website.

What should I take next semester?

Many of the advisors in the CSE have begun reaching out to students to schedule advising appointments. Make sure that you've checked your Southeastern Gmail account for an e-mail from your advisor.

  • Most advisors will ask you to bring your curriculum sheet and 4 year plan with you. You can find the curriculum sheet on the department website for your major and the 4 year plans in the current catalog (use the PDF version to print out the 4 year plan).
  • It's a good idea to update your LeoNet Planner if you took different courses than you expected to this semester or changed your major. You can also create a new academic map if it is helpful to you.

Feeling stressed? Need a break?

Try Mindfulness! Kay Grest from the Health Center and Angie Balius from the library are hosting weekly sessions to help you relax, breathe, and maintain your mental health.

Launched just this week, What's Up at Southeastern is a new biweekly email newsletter sent to all students with information on upcoming events, experiences and opportunities on campus.

What's Up at Southeastern was developed based on feedback from students requesting a single source for campus event information and is coordinated though a committee directed by the Division for Student Affairs. Faculty and staff can access the newsletter through a link on the MyDen page of southeastern.edu.

An online process for submitting events for consideration will be announced in the future.

For more information, email whatsup@southeastern.edu.

Stay Tuned!

Departments will be welcoming you to your new academic home with events at the end of April.

If you need further assistance, make sure to contact your advisor.
