Most Evergreen libraries, including SELCO, use the Traditional version of Best-Hold Sort Selection Order (BHSSO).
The Equinox migration project manager strongly warned us about making changes to how holds work. Most consortia that change hold behavior end up changing it back.
To increase the likelihood of your items filling holds for your library's patrons, run your pull list frequently.
Local Request Changes This Weekend
Since migration day, permanent local request items haven’t been working as intended with staff-placed requests. We have tested changes to permanent local request, and we are upgrading our hold policies in Evergreen this weekend to remedy this issue.
After Monday, you may see errors more frequently when placing requests in Evergreen.
Items that are permanent local request at a different library from you will show an ITEM_NOT_HOLDABLE error. While there is an Override button, do not use it for this error. If all items on the record can’t fill the request, the hold will be stuck until cancelled or expired.
Another error you might see is MAX_HOLDS. Our previous policies weren’t respecting hold limits placed by the Circ & RSS task force; now, holds will provide an error when a patron permission group reaches that threshold.
Finally, you may see a NO_POLICY_MATCHPOINT error. This happens when the requested item has no circulation modifier. This error cannot be overridden.
Please note that these changes will not block MNLINK requests. This is because the MNLINK requestor uses a special type of hold. Contact the Help Desk if you have a MNLINK request placed on any item you do not wish to lend.
