With the central sorting machine due to be installed on February 3, 2026, we want you all to know the following:
Keep using paper routing slips and rubber bands on your items on and after February 3. We will announce when to stop using the routing slips and rubber bands.
Note: Your incoming tubs will have fewer routing slips as we start using the machine. However, do not stop putting routing slips and rubber bands on your outgoing items until we explicitly announce the change.
Keep some paper routing slips to use when your library sends or receives large objects like kits, board games, backpacks, or oversized books. Large objects cannot be scanned by the sorting machine and must be manually sorted with routing slips.
Materials placed in a bubble mailer (like CDs or other media) must have a paper routing slip. Bubble-mailed items will be manually placed in the destination tub.
Any materials placed in a gray tub should follow the barcode recommendations to prevent delays.
RFID Users only: we will be in contact with you to get code ranges. If you’re using RFID and haven’t received an email asking for further information, please reach out.
SELCO staff will not perform same-day sorting until we finalize our new delivery workflow with the machine. We will switch to same-day sorting before March 3.
