We have a fantastic Science Department, where you will be able to get involved in exciting, challenging and fun lessons. We have 9 dedicated laboratories for practical science. At KS3, you will cover a wide range of topics in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and when you reach KS4, you will follow a similar pathway to study for combined trilogy science, but you will also be able to opt to study the sciences for three separate GCSEs. In Year 7, you will learn how to use specific scientific equipment safely and how to carry out scientific investigations. You will also learn about cells, energy, circuits, particles, separating techniques, acids and alkalis, forces, magnets and reproduction. We also hold our Year 7 science fair every year and we find that students really enjoy getting involved in this and come up with creative ways to show their understanding of science.
There are plenty of opportunities for you to learn outside the classroom, with trips to places like York University, Drax Power Station and many more.
