We are the dedicated frontline workers of Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Although we provide essential care to our community, we do not have affordable healthcare for ourselves and can barely support our families on wages as low as $15.25 an hour. Because of these poverty wages, it is extremely difficult to recruit and retain staff, making it hard to give the care our patients deserve.
While we’ve been struggling, corporate owner Kaiser Permanente, the largest “non-profit” healthcare corporation in the country, has made almost $8 BILLION in profits this year and the Kaiser CEO made over $12 million in 2023. The top three Geisinger executives made over $12.5 million total in 2023 and Geisinger Lewistown Hospital made almost $26 million in operating profits in fiscal year 2024.
We’ve had enough with out of control corporate greed, especially in healthcare, which is destroying the American Dream. It’s time for executives to pay us fairly for our hard work and negotiate a fair union contract, so we can continue to provide quality care and uplift our entire community.
