We are a student-led committee established at an all-girls private institution in 2015. Over the years, students have organized fundraising events such as pancake breakfasts and dodgeball tournaments, in which the funds sponsored organizations such as Dignity Dreams and Women's Hope Education and Training Trust (WHEAT Trust).
We are keen on promoting women's education and encouraging individuals to make contributions to supporting women's education.
The committee serves as a medium for individuals to educate themselves on the importance of women's education and update themselves on current affairs.
We support women's education by employing social media platforms to spread awareness of the importance of women's education and offering weekly updates on current affairs in respect of the issue. In addition, our website addresses organizations individuals can sponsor along with facts they can share on their social platforms to promote women's education. Our committee as well holds fundraising events of our own and sponsor our funds to organizations.
Educating women incentivizes dignity within themselves, reinforcing their social status. Indeed, education allows for women to achieve awareness of their rights and further defy social injustice. Moreover, not educating women begets long-standing consequences. Studies have demonstrated a negative correlation between the literacy of women and mortality rates in countries such as India. In fact, infant mortality rates have shown reductions as high as 50% between illiterate females and those who have received primary education. Furthermore, not educating women restricts the income potentials of families, depriving many of their basic needs that ensure their safety.
