We started our tour of the Northeast Region of the United States in January. Our first stop was Hershey, Pennsylvania. We took a tour of the factory and even had a chance to sample a few treats. After leaving the Hershey factory we headed into Philadelphia to take a look at the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We then jumped on a train and headed to NYC where we rode the subway to a waiting helicopter to take us on a tour of the city. Sadly, we had some technical difficulties with the helicopter so we will pick up in NYC when we are done with AmeriTowne

I cannot believe we are already into February! This year is flying by.
We have completed the STAR Math and Reading testing. I will be sending those results home ASAP. I am sorry I did not get them to you last week, as you may or may not know, I was out sick for four days last week.
We have started preparing for AmeriTowne in Social Studies. We have learned about banking, supply and demand, how to write a deposit slip as well as a check and have even taken a look at our Debit cards. We have a lot of ground to cover before visiting Towne on March 1st. Speaking of visiting AmeriTowne, we are going with both 5th grade classes and perhaps a few home school students as well. AmeriTowne only allows as many adults as are needed in shops to attend. You cannot go and just watch. Fifth grade parents get first choice in going on this trip and working in the shops with the students. I will, however, need people willing to drive students and pick them up at the end of the day. We are also going to need people to do job interviews in the next couple weeks. If you are interested please send me a text and I will let you know the details.
