The site is located on the eastern waterfront in Sewri, Mumbai. It is a basalt rock, 7 meters high from the road overlooking the creek and mangroves, with such a different topography there are different species of flora and fauna that reside near this place. This waterfront has many oil refineries and factories situated along the wetlands that pollute the water and air, the flora and fauna here are therefore adversely affected.
The design started looking at the additional program which would negotiate with the environment (physical ,biological, and cultural) flows by answering questions like
what are wetlands?
Which plants grow here this place?
What kind of environment is suitable?
The Flora and the Fauna around the site is in threat due to the huge oil refineries and pollution created due to the factories, the architectural program therefore is an BOTANICAL GARDEN, place where natives plants are grown and distributed or sold.
