Phenomenon of light through various glass surfaces.
Changing light intensity wrt the colour, translucent surfaces.
Shape of glass affecting the phenomenon.
Phenomenon of light getting diffused.
Phenomenon of light being gently washed on the walls.
Various kinds of glass types and glass forms were used to create the required effect. Liquid was introduced as a reflective medium, a medium that could diffuse light with its slow and gradual transformation from patterns to a steady form.
Glass of different types were placed at certain angles to achieve an appropriate light wash on the concrete facades. These inclinations of glass helped achieve not only an interesting light quality in the interior but also give form that varied with levels in elevation. Also a prism wall was made to achieve the overlapping spectrum of light.
Pavilion can become a release space from the neighborhood. This release space would include a chromotherapy space, library and cafe as the main programs. The Chromotorium would function as a stress relieving place for the people working nearby. Similarly the library and cafe.
The site chosen is near Mindspace, Malad, which is surrounded by commercial buildings. This site was chosen on the basis of the light quality it had and also the building type surrounding it.
Coloured glasses curved at intervals to create an overlap of light and water that reflects the entire space, that also help diffuse light in liquid medium.
The dome light two structures with a dichroic glass at the top reflects light multiple times to create light washes on the ground facades.
Dichroic glass, coloured glass, plain glass creates play of light in interiors as well as outside. When light passes to two it diffuses to give a light wash, while when passed through one would give sharp light.
The design is of 2 floors where each floor is inclined by 20° and 15° respectively to eliminate the shading factor from the trees surrounding the design.
The ground floor is half sunken in the ground so as to provide a close connection with grass for the floor above. In the interiors prism walls are placed, which are given certain inclinations from the ground facades.
