SOUNDCLOUD

The phenomena observed was the overlapping of the different sounds from very high intensity to very low intensity caused by the airstrike.
The phenomena observed is the existing sound in the atmosphere getting disturbed due to the constant bombardment of the explosives.
EXPERIMENTS
ITERATIONS
Experimenting with different metals such as iron, copper, aluminium, steel etc. we looked at the reverberations caused due to these materials. Thus, we started building upon the idea of hammering and clanging of the metal discs. The intensity of the sound would depend on the amount of the people present in the space and gets produced when people step on the pedal connected to hammer. The hammer then will hit one of the metal disc and set another disc in rotation.
APPARATUS / PAVILION
We imagined the pavilion as the atmosphere of uncertain sounds caused due to the reflections from various concave and convex surfaces. In order to have controlled sound, absorptive materials were embedded while casting reflective sound materials.
PROGRAM IDEAS
- The idea of having ramps through this gentle curves which could in turn become the free meandering spaces for people.
- Carving out spaces from the curves.
- A meeting spot
- Gossip café.
- Incorporation of storage spaces into the curves.
SITE
The site chosen for the intervention is the beach because it has its own acoustical environment of the wind and water. It is located in Malad on a beachfront with total built up area of 700 sq. m.
DESIGN INTERVENTION
The overview of the structure shows how it sits with the context of the site where people can enter the space from all sides and people sitting or working inside gets the view of the beach. It has resort towards north, garden towards east and beach towards west and south.
PLANS AND SECTIONS
The key plan explains how each space with different program gets connected with each other. The spaces are at different heights from ground level. The shop and the cafeteria is towards the north so that people passing on the road can enter directly whereby people inside the restaurant can directly access it. At the centre is the bar with dining spaces on either sides and besides it is the kitchen.
The section helps to understand the space with different volumes. These volumes differ according to the number of people accommodating the space.
INTERIOR VIEWS AND CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
The interior views show the connectivity of one space with another and how the roof itself transforms into the kitchen platform, a dining space etc.
The details show the construction process of the Ferro cement surface and the foundation. The diagram shows how sound reflects from one space to another space. This is based on the surfaces cut in each space.
