Social-Emotional Learning
As an SDUHSD school, Oak Crest is committed to supporting student personal health, safety, and well-being. SDUHSD's support staff uses activities and lessons that align with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) framework that focuses on five key areas: relationship skills, responsible decision-making, self-management, self-awareness, and social awareness. Social and emotional learning (SEL) sets the groundwork for a safe and positive learning environment and enhances a student’s ability to lead a well-balanced life. Oak Crest currently does activities to support social-emotional wellness through homeroom activities and wellness weeks.

Support Groups: Oak Crest Middle School offers a variety of support groups throughout the year to allow our students to meet in a small group environment to learn and build on skills related to their personal development. Questions or interest in having your student participate in a support group? Contact Counselors Michelle McNeff x3312 or Krystal Perrin x3336.
OC MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support: Social-Emotional): When social/emotional concerns exist, a parent/guardian, teacher, or counselor may initiate the Student Study Team (SST) process. The student study team identifies the student's area of need and outlines an agreed-upon plan of support, which at times may include a referral to our school social worker. Follow-up meetings are planned to provide a monitoring intervention strategy to maximize the student's social-emotional growth and overall school experience. For more information, contact your student's counselor.
