What to do when you are absent

Help! I was absent. What do I do?

You’re in luck! Here’s a checklist for math class absences!

  • Check online for the day you were absent. Here you can find the lesson/notes you missed and the homework that was assigned. If you are gone for a block period, the completed lesson will be posted at the end of the even periods.

  • Math A Honors, check the website to see if a DOT is assigned so you do not complete it late.

  • Check in with your teacher before or after class if you have any questions. You may want to consider attending homework help or make an appointment for Office Hours if you do not understand the notes.

  • Check in with a Study Buddy to find out what discussions took place and any extra work that was done in class and not listed on the website.

  • Turn in any homework that was due on the day you were absent. Remember to write "Absent" on it.

  • Get the homework that was assigned the day you were absent. You have one grace day to turn this in (you must use the methods from your notes!) unless special arrangements have been made.

  • Remember you have your study buddy and Google Classroom to find out what the homework was. If the homework was a worksheet and is not linked on the website, ask your teacher for a copy of it before or after class.

  • Arrange with the teacher to make up any quizzes, tests, or Knowledge Checks you might have missed as quickly as possible. Be ready to take it the day you return.

  • Ask a study buddy if there were any other announcements that you should know about.

  • If you know you are going to be absent, please contact me before you leave for work.

Keep in mind that this checklist is for a single absence. If you were absent for more than one day in a row, do the all of the above for each day!
