Homework/Classwork Policy
Homework is assigned every class period. It is to be done neatly, in pencil, and on paper (unless directed otherwise). Please remember to include a complete heading (name, date, and period). Homework is due the following class period, unless otherwise instructed. Late work will only be accepted with a Late Pass. You will be given 1 Late Pass per module. These should be used wisely. You never know when an emergency/technology issues may happen and you will not be given extra ones. No late homework will be accepted the last week of a grading period, even with a late pass. You can turn in an unused Late Pass at the end of the quarter for extra credit IF all of your other assignments have been turned in and full credit has been received. If you need help on your homework remember to call your study buddy, use the online resources, attend tutoring, attend office hours, or make an appointment with me for help. Assignments make up 1/3 of your final grade. Assessments (mostly tests and quizzes) make up the remaining 2/3.
Grading Rubric:
2 Points: Homework Completion/Class Activity Completion
All work is complete, including all required parts of each problem.
Work will be considered incomplete even if only 1 problem (or part of any problem) is skipped.
Writing "I don't know", "IDK", "?", "I was absent" does not count as attempting a problem.
If you have no idea how to do a problem you can call a study buddy, use the online resources, or ask for help. If you are still unsure how to complete a problem, you need to give it your best attempt. Let me know what you do know, what information you think you need, what part is confusing, or show me your multiple attempts. "I did my work on separate paper and left it at home" will not be accepted as a completed homework.
All work is shown as modeled in class. Yes, you need to show all of your work!
Homework completion will be checked and recorded daily.
Incomplete homework will receive a zero so double check your work when you are done to make sure you answered ALL parts of EVERY question.
Incomplete homework cannot be made up for points although it is recommended you complete all work before the Knowledge Check. You may receive full credit if you turn in the assignment complete with your late pass.
Lessons not completed in class may be assigned as homework. You are responsible for completing this work and checking it for accuracy on the website. Points may or may be given for completing these; however, you are expected to know the material presented in the completed Lesson. Problems from the Lessons may show up on an Knowledge Check later.
YOU are responsible for turning in incomplete class activities the following period. Don't expect to be reminded to do this.
2-8 Points: Knowledge Check (Accuracy Check)
Knowledge Checks will given online and/or in class.
You can expect a Knowledge Check about once every 1-2 weeks, depending on the week and module.
Knowledge Checks can include questions directly from a Homework or Lesson, be similar to a Homework or Lesson, be review from previous sections, or come from a class discussion.
Knowledge Checks must be completed on time and in class for credit.
If you are absent when a Knowledge Check is given, YOU are responsible for arranging a time to make it up. You will have no more than a week to make it up unless there is an approved extension due to a special circumstance, so don't put this off. If there is a special circumstance, please come see me.
2-8 Points: DOTs: "Do Online Thinking"(Accuracy Check for Math A Honors only)
DOTs will be assigned in class and are to be completed online at home by the 9:00 pm the night before the following class period.
Work should be shown on your DOT paper in your spiral notebook and answers should be submitted online. You will attach a digital copy of your work in Google Classroom.
Problems or concepts covered on DOTs could show up on future Knowledge Checks or quizzes/tests.
DOTs will be entered into the Assignment category of your final grade.
You are allowed to use your notes or previous homework assignments to complete your DOT.
If you are absent, check the Homework Assignments Page to see if a DOT has been assigned so it can be completed on time.
Performance Tasks and MEEPs will be entered into either the Assignments or Assessments category depending on the module. These could also be entered as a group grade or individual grade. You will know ahead of time how it will be graded. Point values will vary based on the complexity of the assignment.
