Summer Mavs
Zoe Morris
Thank you for an amazing year!

With the 2021-2022 school year coming to an end, it only feels right to meet up with some Mavs to see what they are up to this Summer. Sophomores Larissa Georgides and Allison Havranek have some exciting plans in the following months.
"I am going to Europe for a soccer tournament. One of my soccer teammates have friends who play for a different club that are going to the tournament and they needed a couple extra players because not everyone from their team can make it. All our games are going to be in Spain but we are also taking one day to travel to France with the team. We will have practices in different stadiums and spend time with the team on a bus to tour the cities. I am practicing during my extra time as well as my own team practices to be prepared to play. I am very excited to meet new people and play teams from different countries. When I get home I plan on hanging out with my friends because over the summer I will be gone for a whole month. If anyone would like to travel for tournaments, I would suggest to keep practicing and meeting more people who play the same sport as you because you never know when a new opportunity might come along!" said Georgides.
Other Mavericks are heading over to Europe too! Allison is apart of a French traveling program that will allow her to enjoy the French Peninsula. How fun!
"The program is called Oui Connect and the founder came to the classroom and introduced it to us one day, and ever since then I wanted to go! There are some other people in my class that are going or hosting too. The program is a three week stay or host (or both!) and you have the option to meet your host family over Zoom to see what they are like beforehand. So far, all I know is that the family I am staying with has an 18 year old girl but I will know more information about them later. I love learning the language and their culture is very different from ours in the sense that they don't work as much and relax more. They take more time at restaurants and are never in a rush. I went to Paris in 2019 and absolutely loved it there. I am preparing to go by contacting the founder and the family for the travelling part, and going to be doing French Duolingo like crazy to be on top of my French! I am excited to be immersed in the language and culture and learn about it. I also can't wait to return home and show my family and friends how much more french language skills I have obtained. I would you tell a fellow Mav who is thinking of doing the same thing to do it because it is going to be such a great experience! Even though it is costly, if you are able to do so, I think it would be a really great way to see what other parts of the world are like and meet new people," said Havranek.
So whether you are traveling along the French Countryside, or just staying at home and spending time with friends and family, we hope here at MavLife that you have a fun and relaxing Summer. Live your best life and we'll see you next Fall!
