Letter from the Editors
Thank you for an amazing year!
Letter from the Editors
Zoe Morris:
After four years of writing for MavLife, I have gained so many amazing memories and skills that I will carry with me throughout my life. Although I have gone through 3 different teachers for this class throughout my high school experience, my Senior year will always be my favorite because of my amazing co-writer, Kelsey. I have been editor-in-chief since my Sophomore year, interviewed and worked with countless people, but have never seen someone as driven, creative, and fun to be around as Kelsey.
I'll always look back fondly and proudly at the stories I have created through this class. Whether that be interviewing Olympian Alumni, and Hollywood stars, or simply sharing my school's history along with current events in my community. I believe in the idea that there are endless stories to be told, it makes me happy to think I dived into telling some of them.
To those interested in where my future leads, I am attending Chapman University this Fall. I will major in both Strategic Communications and Media PR. Close by will be my twin sister Madi, at UCI.
I'd also like to thank Teauge, who has supported and cheered me on for the past two years. I'm thankful for your endless jokes, insightful input, and your caring attitude. You are a teacher I will always remember for your endless support.
I don't know what the future of MavLife holds, being both me and Kelsey are Seniors, but I hope the program continues. It has been an amazing artistic outlet for me, that I wish will continue to grow.
Goodbye MavLife, thank you for all the memories and opportunities you have opened up for me.
Signing off,
Zoe Morris
Kelsey Garvey:
Joining MavLife this year has been a thrilling and valuable experience that has overall benefited my journalism and communication skills. While my time here was short-lived, I have made countless memories while working with my editor-in-chief, Zoe. The first day of class this year, Zoe and I immediately connected by sharing our taste in music, movies, and books. From that exact moment, I knew that I would have a companion by my side, someone who would help me get through my senior year.
We have written countless stories regarding school clubs, local businesses, opinionated pieces, and even investigative journalism. Everything that has been written this year has had a significant impact on my overall perception of how I view LCC and the incredible community around it.
Interviewing the owner of Captain Keno's and writing an investigative journalism piece on the Yellow Deli were my favorite stories that Zoe and I committed ourselves to.
I will be attending Cal State Long Beach in the fall of 2024. I will be studying Cinematic Arts. I am incredibly excited to pursue film, a subject that I am overly passionate about. I can't wait to see what the next four years have in store for me.
Thank you Mr. Teague for the countless conversations we've had regarding (good) music and movies/shows (specifically Peaky Blinders). I am so grateful that I was able to have such an amazing teacher for my last year as a LCC student. Thank you for all the hard work you've dedicated to this class, it does not go unnoticed.
Hopefully MavLife still has a future here at LCC. It has been a good run.
Signing off,
Kelsey Garvey
