With finals and midterms coming up, it's important to maintain good mental health during a time that can induce stress. But not to worry! This article is all about things to do to maintain good mental health, and how to stay positive!
Below are some tips on how to reduce stress:
1) Get active!
- Being physically active is well known to be one of the most helpful things you can do for stress. So don't be shy to take a walk, go to the gym, or ride your bike.
2) Meditate.
- This one might be a little foreign for some people, but for those that are familiar, they can most likely attest to how helpful meditation can be to calm down and take a step back from things, there are so many helpful videos online like this one, that teaches you the basics of meditation.
3) Get enough sleep.
- Not only will this help keep your brain sharp for all the tests and quizzes during this time, but it's also amazing for your mental health. Health professionals say that teenagers should get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, but the more, the better. Don't be afraid to head to bed early during this time to make sure your mental health is taken care of.
4) Keep a journal.
- Writing your thoughts, worries, and anything that comes to mind down can help you process your emotions more efficiently. Doing this can take a heavy load off your back and allow your thoughts and feelings to be put into words.
So Mavs, remember to stay tough and study for those midterms, it's almost time for Winter Break. It will be here before you know it! Stay healthy and happy.
