LCC Votes

It's officially voting season! For those of us that can vote on campus, it's important to know everything about: the voting system, your voting options, and who you think you are voting for. Here at La Costa Canyon, we have an LCC Votes Club, which promotes education in the voting field, and all the responsibility that comes with it.
Club president Shane Baum, a Senior, talked about the club, what their goal and mission is, and what you can do this voting season.
"LCC Votes is a club composed of students and faculty who support the increase in civic awareness and voter participation in the school community," said Baum.
To promote voter participation, they host multiple events to get the votes going around campus. This includes drives and club meetings.
"Our club will be hosting voter pre-registration and registration drives, holding club meetings to discuss recent political events, and hosting local government leaders to speak about their careers," said Baum.
So, why is it important to vote? Well, other than the fact that you get a say in what is going on in your country, Shane also believes there are other benefits to participating.
"It is important for people to vote because elections have effects on our quality of life, our communities, our schools, and our environment. Voting is an opportunity for change and progress and young people make waves in elections globally," said Baum.
So, make sure to vote this season! Make your voice heard! If the LCC Voting Club sounds like the group for you, don't hesitate to join! They are always looking for new members.
"I encourage people to join the LCC Votes Club, and get involved in civics. It is fortunately something many young people are getting involved in," said Baum.
