A fun and engaging way to practice speech sounds is to us the Speech to Text feature on a smart phone. Have your child speak a sentence (containing their target sounds) into the phone as if they were to text you a message. Autocorrect will bring up any articulation errors that they made. The technology gives immediate feedback to your child and motivates them to use their strategies to produce clear speech.
If you don't understand what your child has said, try using an "I" statement before making a correction. It can be frustrating for a child when not understood, so a gentle approach is best given the sensitivity of the speaking task. For example, "I want to make sure I understood you correctly...
Can you please repeat that for me?"
Can you please slow down?"
Try that again, think about where your tongue goes."
Can you please raise/lower your speaking volume?"

Break assignments or tasks into smaller chunks so they appear more manageable
