AFS is a comprehensive college and career access, and college persistence and completion program that is dedicated to serve first-generation, low-income students from Hoover High School. Funded by the Price Philanthropies Foundation, the AFS program provides services to students and alumni as they set education and career goals, identify viable pathways to employment, navigate the college enrollment, completion, and financial aid process, persist from college to graduation, and connect with resources to succeed. Parents and guardians are an integral partner in their students' lives and receive ongoing support from Avenues for Success staff to help their students realize their future self and set goals to achieve their aspirations.
Avenues for Success works closely with local colleges and universities to provide tailored support for Hoover High School students and alumni as they navigate the college going process and persist through higher education. Our formal Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with partner institutions ensure ongoing collaboration, data sharing, and direct services that improve college outcomes for our students.
Our MOU with SDSU has allowed us to serve Hoover alumni through in-person support, campus-based events, and academic/career advising. Renewed in 2024, the agreement affirms our shared commitment to student persistence and success.
