Miss America 18-29: must be NO OLDER than 28 on September 30, 2027, and no younger than 18 on September 1, 2027. Miss America's Teen 14-18: must be no YOUNGER than 14 by September 1, 2027, and no older than 18 on September 30, 2027.SC Teaching Fellows Scholarship [Deadline: 12/1/2026]
The SC Teaching Fellows application window is now open! The Teaching Fellows program includes enrichment programs, professional development, and leadership opportunities for students. Participants can receive up to a $6,000 annually for four years (as long as the student is in the process of completing a degree leading to initial teacher certification and meets the criteria to continue in the Program). The program requires participants to agree to teach in a South Carolina public school one year for each year funding is received and sign a Promissory Note along with a surety. Teaching Fellows must attend one of the fourteen Teaching Fellows Institutions. These include Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Francis Marion University, Lander University, Newbery College, North Greenville University, USC-Aiken, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, Winthrop University More information can be found at this link.Eligibility Requirements:
- a U.S. citizen or will be an eligible non-citizen under State Residency Statutes at the time of high school graduation (Please note - students categorized as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are not eligible for Teaching Fellows.)
- a legal resident of South Carolina (Please note - Residency will be verified by the Teaching Fellows Institution after a student has been offered an award.)
- a high school senior or junior graduating early
Students who wish to apply must complete an online application between October 1 and December 1 of their final year of high school. Two reference surveys; information about school/community involvement and/or work experience as well as leadership activities; a high school transcript with class rank included; and ACT and/or SAT test scores are collected through the application process. All complete applications are scored by an initial screening committee. Up to 500 qualifying applicants are invited to participate in the Teaching Fellows regional interviews, where they interview with a team of three educators, deliver a short presentation on an assigned topic, and write an essay in response to a prompt.
