Abstract
The study explored the profile of the respondents, personal finances, and the financial literacy as well as the significant effect of financial literacy on personal finances and the significant difference in personal finances when grouped according to the profile and to propose a financial literacy training program. This descriptive-quantitative study examined whether financial literacy, as measured by financial behavior, knowledge, and attitude, substantially impacted personal behaviors such as income, spending, saving, investing, and protection of selected Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members in Batangas City. The data obtained were analyzed and interpreted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), which included statistical methods such as frequency counts and percentages, weighted and composite means, regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed that financial literacy considerably impacted personal financial actions such as income, spending, and investment. However, there was no significant influence when 4Ps members were asked about their financial attitudes toward saving and protection. This study revealed no significant difference in the personal financial activities of 4Ps members when they were grouped according to educational attainment and the number of family members in the household. However, there exists a significant difference when financial activities were grouped based on civil status. This study recommended the proposed strategies to be endorsed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for possible implementation. By organizing the suggested webinars and assisting the researchers in disseminating the resources they proposed, the DSWD may help the respondents improve their financial literacy. To evaluate the shift in the respondents’ degree of financial literacy and personal financial actions, a relevant study may be carried out. The study might be theoretical in nature and evaluate how the members of the 4Ps’ financial literacy levels changed because of the planned action plan’s inputs. The DSWD may put the suggested techniques into practice to enhance the program.
