Meet the Teacher

Meet Mrs. K. Jones

My name is Mrs. Kathleen Jones. I am so excited to be your child's third grade teacher. This is my seventh year teaching. I have an Elementary Education degree from Monmouth College with a minor in social sciences and middle school endorsement. I also have my Master's Degree from DePaul University in Education Leadership with a teacher leader endorsement. I have taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade for several years. Third grade is such a special year for children. They are learning to gain independence, explore, and inquire the world around them. I believe parents and teachers are partners in their child's education. This is my third year teaching at Westchester Intermediate School. I am also the WMS coach for dance/cheer. This community is amazing and I'm so lucky to be apart of this special school district.

A little bit about me... I grew up in Orland Park, IL. After college, I lived in Chicago on the north side. I love to be with my family and friends. My husband and I like to take our dog Molly for walks. My husband and I also are big Chicago sport fans. We love the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks. I love to go shopping anytime I can and read to relax. I also love to travel. I have been many places all around the world. Since my family ancestry is from Ireland, my family and I love to enjoy our culture by storying-telling, enjoying Irish music, and eat my mom's amazing Irish soda bread. I also used to Irish Dance for 12 years when growing up. This summer I was busy traveling and doing some projects around my house. I went to New Orleans and San Francisco. I also taught the summer enrichment program for our district.

Teaching is a true passion of mine. I'm very excited to be able to help your child find their passion and learn something new everyday!

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Kathleen Jones
