I started at WIS as a 5th grade teacher during the 2013-14 school year and have been an Instructional Coach/Math Specialist since 2018. Teaching is my second career as I was a Business Development Manager in the Silicon Valley technology sector before relocating to Chicago. My undergraduate degree is in Human Development and I completed my Master's Degree in Teaching at Trinity International University in Deerfield in 2012. My professional interests lie in the area of best practices for teaching math through the use of visual models and effective instructional strategies, as well as the effect of positive mathematical mindsets on achievement.
I truly enjoy working in Westchester because of the committment the community has to its children and each other. I live in the actual city of Chicago and my two boys completed their elementary education at our neighborhood CPS school. My husband and I are officially "empty nesters" as my boys are both in college studying Electrical Engineering.
When we're not working on our own home, we love to visit historical homes from the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA to Paul Revere's home in Boston, MA. Taking road trips to visit our nation's parks and explore the outdoors is also something we look forward to doing more of in the future. In my spare time, you can usually find me on the way to the gym for a spin class, cooking, gardening or reading a book. I also have a two year old Mini-Doodle named Millie who is more like a person than a dog! I am very involved in agility training with her, which she loves and I hope to use her as a support dog for hospice care patients in the future.
I really enjoy generating an enthusiasm for math among our students and staff at WIS. Our school is lucky to have a great field of talented teachers and committed parents to support the academic growth of our students and I'm glad to be a part of it.
