Entrepreneurship & Marketing 9/10

Students will learn the skills necessary to be a productive and contributing member of a successful business. These are primarily a project-based courses that allows students to explore topics such as business communication, social media and online technologies, finance, economics, Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Students will build their business and business technology skills with word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and publishing software. This course also has a strong emphasis on touch-typing with the majority of students having a goal of 40 WPM by the end of the semester. Students in these classes also gain real life business experience as they are in charge of running The Hive Store (Stelly’s school store).

Entrepreneurship & Marketing 10 builds on the skills of Entrepreneurship & Marketing 9 offering students broader opportunities to expand and implement their business and entrepreneurial talents.

If taken in grade 9, this course satisfies the grade 9 applied design, skills and technology requirement.

If taken in grade 10, this course satisfies the grades 10-12 arts education/applied design, skills and technology graduation requirement.

Media Design 9

This is a survey course where students will have the opportunity to learn and use industry standard software. This includes (but is not limited to) image manipulation, video manipulation, 3-D animation, and audio production software. Students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills while using varying platforms.

Media Design 10

Media Design 11

Students continue work with image manipulation, video manipulation, 3-D animation, and audio production software. As students progress with their skills they will have the opportunity to explore self directed projects. Students will also have the chance to display their skills in a variety of projects for the school community. This could include video projects, marketing materials, or even DJ’ing for school events.

Yearbook is an exciting course that blends many curricular areas. The task of Yearbook is simple: create the school’s yearbook. To achieve this task students will have a chance to display their writing, design, photography, image manipulation, and planning skills.

This course is offered outside the regular time table.
