Welcome to Belmont Dance!

There are many benefits to taking dance in high school! Dancing decreases stress, improves coordination and flexibility, strengthens muscles and the cardiovascular system, and can be beneficial for social and emotional health.

In any Dance course at Belmont you can expect to learn the essentials of dance, try several different styles, and learn new ways to improve your physical and mental health.

Our Teachers

Melanie Narciso (she/her): Dance Company

Ms. Narciso has lived in Victoria B.C. all her life and discovered her passion for music at a very young age. She started performing at the age of 4 with “The Voice Club”, a Pop and R&B singing and performing group. She discovered her love for dance at age 5 and has been trained in many dance styles including Jazz, RAD Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. Since then, she has participated in many competitions, festivals and performances receiving outstanding marks and awards. She obtained teaching experience when she became an assistant teacher for young children in dance and also received her certification in Acrobatic Arts Module 1. She is excited and feels blessed to have been given this opportunity to share her passion for the arts with the students of Belmont Secondary School!

Sarah Worrall (she/her): Dance Technique & Performance;

Hip Hop & Conditioning; Tap & Broadway Studies

Ms. Worrall grew up in Sidney, B.C. and danced at Allegro (previously Elite) Performing Arts on the Saanich Peninsula from a young age. She has explored Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Tap, and taught at multiple high schools around Victoria before landing happily at Belmont. Ms. Worrall believes in making all styles of Dance fun and accessible to every student, whether Belmont is your first experience of dance or you've been moving and training for years! Her favourite thing about the Belmont Dance Program is watching students from all over the world, and from every grade, make new friends and explore new ways of moving.

We also bring many Guest Teachers in to share their knowledge of various styles with dance students!
