Smart Watch and Cell Phone Reminders
To allow our students to be fully engaged in learning during the school day, cell phones and other personal devices should be powered off or silenced and out of sight during the school day. Students are allowed to have smart watches if they follow the guidelines listed below. If there is an emergency and you need to contact your child, please call the main office for assistance.
Students are permitted to have wearable smart devices like smartwatches only if they are being used to view the time, like a traditional watch. Any student using a smartwatch should not text, call, or use any apps during school. If a student is found using any apps on a smartwatch or communicating with it, they will be asked to put the watch/device in their backpack.
Parents can help ensure smartwatches do not become a distraction by placing the device in silence mode. For instance, with an Apple Watch, a parent can put the device in “Schooltime” mode, which limits how the student can use the watch during school.
Wear ARMSTRONG COLORS or spirit wear every Friday to show your school spirit!
We’re excited to celebrate our classmates who have birthdays this November!

Procedures
Bathroom:
Students will be given 7 bathroom passes every week. Students will not need to use the pass during lunch or recess. If students have a medical condition that results in them needing to use the restroom more frequently, please contact me directly.
Absences:
If your child is going to be absent, please email both me and the secretary MariaSagastume@sd54.org OR leave a voice mail on the attendance line.
Homework:
Students are expected to read 20 minutes per night and complete their math homework. When given appropriately, homework can help with practice and responsibility. If your child is struggling with homework, please contact me.
