Getting Beyond the Printed Music

"Community."

"Family."

"We all just became like one voice and made something pretty amazing together."

"A beautiful community of people in a time that I really struggled to find my place."

When I asked Glacier alumni who had been members of the Wolfpack Choir what kept them coming back to choir every year, those words like "community" and "family" popped up in nearly every answer. Choir represents a beautiful place where students from all walks of life, all interests, all talent levels, can come together and experience the magic that is making music, with our voices, together.

To say I'm thrilled to be able to work with the choirs at GHS would be an understatement. I know how much this program means to the community; to the families; to the students. I hope to continue the incredible legacy of the GHS music department and find ways to continue to build community and find a school home for every child who walks into F-126.

Mr. Connell

From a very early age, Mr. Connell knew that music was his calling. Encouraged by his parents he took lessons, sang in choir, played in band, and took any and every opportunity he got to participate in music. After double majoring in percussion performance and vocal music education at Morehead State University (KY), Nathan was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Montana and serve the students and community that set him on his post-high school path.

Some of Mr. Connell's performance highlights include serving as student conductor on the 2018 MSU Concert Choir tour of Spain; performing with the Blue Knights drum and bugle corps; performing in the concert band, symphonic band, marching band, percussion ensemble, concert choir, and jazz choir at Morehead State University.

When not teaching choir at GHS, Mr. Connell enjoys spending time with his wife, Ellie (an amazing math teacher at Flathead HS) and participating in outdoor activities. Skiing, trail running, rock and ice climbing, biking, fly fishing, longboarding. You can follow Mr. Connell's adventures on his Instagram - @connellchoir
