Department Policies – Health Enhancement & Physical Education
Attendance & Participation
Daily attendance and active participation are required for success.
Students are expected to be on time, dressed appropriately, and fully engaged each day.
Excused absences may be made up according to department guidelines to earn full credit.
Dress & Equipment
All students must wear the approved PE uniform and proper athletic footwear.
Inappropriate footwear (e.g., Crocs, slides, open-toe shoes, boots) is not permitted for safety reasons.
Hats are not allowed during class.
Loaner uniforms are available when needed; repeated no dress-outs result in consequences.
Safety Expectations
Students must follow all safety rules and lifting guidelines at all times.
Proper technique and responsible behavior are required in the weight room and activity spaces.
Injuries or medical limitations must be communicated to the instructor; extended injuries require a doctor’s note.
Make-Up Policy
Excused absences may be made up within the designated time frame.
Make-ups consist of a supervised workout session completed before school, during lunch, or after school.
Cell Phones & Personal Items
Cell phones and electronic devices are not permitted during class and must be stored in lockers.
Students are provided lockers and locks and are responsible for securing their belongings.
Grading
Grades are primarily based on daily participation, effort, and performance, with assessments included.
Excessive absences may require students to complete a semester final.
Behavior & Conduct
Students are expected to be ready, respectful, and responsible at all times.
Progressive consequences are enforced for repeated no dress-outs, tardiness, or behavioral issues.
