The 2020-2021 school will be my 4th year teaching here at Oswego East High School.
I attended Augustana College receiving my undergrad degree in Psychology with minors in History, Sociology and English. In college, I spent time doing research in memory and affects of labeling on students. After college, I spent time working at a community mental health center working with adults with chronic mental health issues such as Schizophrenia, Manic Depression and Major Depression.
As I always knew that I wanted to work with adolescents, I took a job working at ChildServ in their group home program. While with ChildServ, I worked as a childcare worker within the home as well as a case manager, managing the children's court cases. After over 10 years working with the company, I chose to leave my position and stay home to raise my daughter.
When I decided to return to work, I chose to change my career. Deeply influenced by a nephew who is very special to me, who has Autism, I chose to pursue a career in Special Education. I received a Masters Degree in Education from Lewis University. After spending three wonderful years as a one-on-one aide here at OEHS, I happily accepted a teaching position. I am currently teaching Us History both direct and co-taught, co-taught Civics and Resource. Last year I taught co-taught Modern World History. As I am a complete history buff, working within the Social Studies Department here at OEHS is right up my alley. Working with my amazing team and students has been very rewarding and I am looking forward to another great year.
