Parents,

In order to make certain all our students receive appropriate educational supports, Post Falls School District 273 conducts a mid-year residency verification. Residency is defined as where your family sleeps at night. Has your residency changed since September 4, 2018? If yes AND if any of the following statements are true for your family, please contact your school counselor or the Post Falls School District McKinney-Vento Liaison, Dawn Mackesy at 208-773-3541 or dmackesy@sd273.com for more information about educational services that may be available to your student(s) and family.

· We are doubled up with friends, grandparents, or other family due to economic condition.

· We are living at a motel / hotel because other housing is unattainable.

· We are living in a domestic violence shelter.

· We are living in transitional housing.

· We are sleeping in public places or abandoned buildings.

· We are living in a car, trailer or campground.

· We are living in a home for pregnant or unwed mothers without another place in which to live.

· I am a student not in the physical custody of my parents or guardian.

On January 14, the district Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution for a $19 million bond to build a new elementary school and improve existing schools. They also unanimously approved a resolution for a two-year supplemental maintenance and operations levy worth $4.955 million per year, for a total of $9.91 million.

The bond requires a two-thirds majority to pass, while the levy requires a simple majority. The requests were the result of the Long Range Facility Plan Committee’s work. Per the plan, $12.5 million of the bond funds will pay for a new elementary school in the Foxtail subdivision east of Highway 41. Another $6.5 million will go to updating and enhancing numerous schools. Bond funds would also be used to purchase land for future school sites. These proposals, if approved March 12, will not increase the district taxes of the average Post Falls taxpayer.

For more information please review our Community Newsletter 2019.pdf and Bond Levy Q&A.pdf.

Radical Rick invades Mullan Trail

Students can participate in Extreme Science activities this winter to explore science concepts with peers.

Fourth graders got their new Chromebooks!

Thank you to all the families that participated in Mighty Moose Mayhem to raise money to replace our old Chromebooks.

Mullan Trail received a grant for over $200,000 in 2014 to purchase Chromebooks and Samsung Galaxy Tabs for every student to use at school. We are in the process of replacing each device due to outdated software on the old technology.

Makers Faire is Coming March 6!

In preparation of our first Makers Faire, students will participate in 30 minute sessions twice a week to explore topics of their choice. These STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) themed sessions will be taught after last recess by a variety of staff members. Classes include Coding, Legos, Strategic Games, Readers' Theater, Escape Rooms, Mystery Science, Robotics and Green Art.

Congratulations to our Preschool Team!

One of Miss Victoria's volunteers nominated us for a STCU grant. We are so proud of the great things that happen for our youngest students.

Mullan Trail's Summer Reading Program

We will be meeting at Post Falls Middle School during their summer lunch program so you can pick up a book or two to read this summer.

It will be each Wednesday from July 11th – August 15th , between 10:30 and 11:00.

Meet us just outside the cafeteria door by the parking lot. We will move inside if it is raining.

Each week several of our Mullan Trail Staff will be there with boxes of books for the students to choose from. We will have different levels so even preschool students can borrow a book or two. Please return the books the next week and take home a few others to read. Some of our staff will also find a shady spot in the grassy area to read a book or two to the students.

We hope our students will come enjoy some great books and free lunch too.

Congratulations to JJ for winning our cafeteria naming contest as part of the Smarter Lunchroom program. The University of Idaho will be working with our school to enhance our lunchroom and promote healthy lifestyles.
